A different kind of monthly challenge

I am wrapping up my monthly challenges with just one more to go after this. I think this challenge caused me the most angst over putting a piece of myself out there.  Not that my mod-podge or Sharpie craft wasn’t out there but you get the idea!

Last month I challenged myself to write a story using three random words.  I mulled it over, thought about cheating and generating another three words.  But I stuck to the first three I got. Sigh.  So here it goes.

Really, should I be condemned for having tried something outside the box? Life is about new experiences, pushing boundaries or maybe doing something life changing.  I finally sucked up the courage and took the plunge and now, well now I was paying for it.  It took guts to do what I did. What I did would have been unthinkable six months ago.  No, even three months ago. I wouldn’t have chanced it.  Never.

Now I am sitting on the bathroom floor, praying I will vomit with the worst heartburn in history.  This is what I get pushing boundaries and doing the unthinkable – eating chocolate covered bugs. I should have known it was going to be bad when the menu was written in crayon.

My three words are the bold/italics.

For this month’s challenge I want to put it out there to do three random acts of kindness. It can be easy like holding the door open for someone, letting someone go ahead of you in a line, buying a coffee, writing someone a note, shovelling someone sidewalk. You get the drift. Doing something kind with no expectation that it will be returned.

I also thought we need to get organized with the holidays fast approaching. I know it is only November, but I figure if we could get a handle on a few things, cross a few items off the list before December, we might have a less stressful holiday season. Over at  Cooking in the chaos I found a Christmas/holiday planner.  There are 11 pages and some you might use, others you might not.  My plan is to start pulling things together this month.  I hope you find this planner useful – or if you have a preferred template let me know in the comments.  Happy planning.

October three random words

September vision board

August – craft using napkins

July somewhere new

June creative prompts

May Snail Mail

April loving kindness meditation

March – Sharpie craft

February – gratitude journal

January – podcasts

You can always start now!

  1. Mmm… chocolate covered bugs. I think I’d be sitting be the toilet too, and not just from heartburn. 😉 I love your November challenge and I look forward to joining you this month – just because. 🙂

  2. This is a great idea for a monthly series. I like the idea of doing three acts of kindness. Sometimes people can get so caught up in their own lives that they don’t think about checking up on others or making someone else’s day, but it is a great feeling when you do. 🙂

Would love to hear your ideas and thoughts!
